The Beetle & Wedge Boathouse
The
Restaurant
Set on
the site of the original Moulsford ferry service, on the banks
of the River Thames on the stretch of river immortalised in
'The Wind in the Willows', where Jerome K Jerome chronicled
the escapades of his friends' visits in 'Three Men in a Boat',
you can enjoy the tranquillity and peace of the riverside
setting in our beautiful old beamed Boathouse.
We have
established a unique, buzzy, informal restaurant, our emphasis
is on the quality of the food, wines and service.
|
| In
the older part of the Boathouse you can watch your food being
grilled on our famous open charcoal fire - sparkling fresh
fish, game in the appropriate season and in addition there
are soups, salads, shellfish and casseroles.
Puds are
very special and have gained praise from even the most jaded
food writers.
Alternatively,
take a window seat in our wonderful beamed conservatory to
get one of the best views on the river all year round. |
| In
fine weather the Boathouse goes alfresco onto the terrace
just a few feet from the river, and there are tables by the
sign on the jetty, beautifully set and lit in the evening.
A magical
place to sit and listen to the water lap against the bank
as you lunch or dine waterside in summer.
Or simply
listen and watch the river traffic with a pint of ale from
our bar and a selection of top cheeses. |
Wines
The Boathouse
wine list is a small but enthusiastically chosen selection,
they tend to be our favourite wines for current drinking.
We have
a fine wine collection offering some remarkable wines which
reflect the reasonable prices at which they were bought at
auction.
